THUS, formerly known as ScottishTelecom, was established by ScottishPower in November 1994. The rapid development of the business and the acquisition of the UK's first commercial Internet service provider, Demon Internet, led to the flotation of THUS Group plc on the London Stock Exchange in November 1999.
Today, THUS has a nationwide fibre network stretching from the Northern Isles to the South coast of England which it uses to provide communications solutions under the THUS and Demon brands to a wide range of business and public sector customers.
THUS's strategy is to deliver not only standard but also bespoke solutions to address customers' particular needs and to work together with customers to develop new business opportunities. Innovations such as WAP TV and delivery of SMS via set top boxes have been developed in close cooperation with customers such as BSkyB in direct response to their needs.
